Universal Pictures' live-action film "How to Train Your Dragon" topped the box office this weekend with $83.7 million, as family-friendly fare continues to draw audiences to theaters.

The live-action adaptation of the 2010 animated film is firing on all cylinders, while the new star-studded romantic drama 'Materialists' is looking at at third-place finish.

The movie had stronger-than-expected ticket sales over the weekend, becoming the third PG-rated, live-action hit in three months.
