Vice President Kamala Harris directed her team this week to immediately schedule a visit to Georgia following a media report that revealed two deaths linked to the battleground state’s abortion restrictions,

Democrats point to a series of electoral wins when abortion rights have been on the ballot, and advocates believe Harris is a strong messenger. During the Sept. 10 presidential debate she gave a forceful answer on how the bans have affected even women who never intended to end pregnancies.

Recent polling shows former President Trump in a four-point lead over Harris among likely Georgia voters. Quinnipiac University’s Sept. 9 poll, released the day before the pair held their first televised debate, 49 percent said they support the GOP candidate, while 45 percent supported Harris.
