The grieving family of 21-year-old Kaylee Goncalves had to wait over a month before a suspect in her 2022 killing was arrested. Since then, they and the families of three other University of Idaho students killed at the same time have been forced to endure an agonizingly slow legal process,

The family of Kaylee Goncalves said Monday they were sent "scrambling" after Bryan Kohberger accepted a plea deal to avoid the death penalty.

His trial was scheduled to begin around Aug. 18. Prosecutors were seeking the death penalty for the 2022 murders of Ethan Chapin, Xana Kernodle, Madison Mogen and Kaylee Goncalves.
