Denver police arrested several demonstrators during a march against ICE raids in downtown Denver Tuesday night.
Denver police arrested 17 protesters on suspicion of graffiti, interference with law enforcement, obstructing streets, throwing objects and assault, according to the police department.
More than a dozen rallies across the state were peace. Police used pepper balls and smoke on one group in Denver.
A large gathering that started out at the Colorado State Capitol to rally against the growing numbers of deportations of people in Colorado and the country illegally became a march down a Denver street.
Denver Mayor Mike Johnston said the city doesn’t need the National Guard or federal enforcement to handle demonstrations and protests, and will oppose it.
