I would saw majority of the trail is exposed the whole route. Your only relief from the sun and heat will be to dive into the lake or find shade and rest under the trees along the trail (lots of trees on the side, just no canopy cover over the trail).

A:
Coldstream does not have hotels, but there is a bike path that takes you right into Vernon, about a 10-15 min ride. Plenty of hotels to accommodate travelers.
