My husband and I took a tour in English of the gardens at La Foce. The grounds are beautiful, though not large. The best part of the tour is hearing the history of Iris Origo and La Foce’s involvemen…Full review by 1424edieb

We are organising to rent Montauto from about 22Dec- 31 Dec 2016. 9 or 10 people. As it is Christmas time, will we be able to have garden tour? What is weather likely to be? Is the drive from Chiusi we'll sign posted? Thank you Patrick Lee

Dear Patrick, How wonderful to plan Christmas 2016 at La Foce! I was there with friends for the month of September 2015 (in the beautiful Gonzola restored farmhouse) and it was fabulous. The Val D'Orcia is so gorgeous ... and unspoiled by any commercial development - it's like driving through the pages of a Tuscan calendar. I'd suggest asking Benedetta Isidori, the rental manager at La Foce, your questions about the weather and garden tour. She will respond promptly. As for the drive from the Chiusi train station to La Foce, I'd suggest renting a car with an excellent GPS & you won't have a problem. Our GPS wasn't so good and we got a bit lost the first time we made that little trip! Be sure to plan a lunch or two at La Porta (in nearby Monticchiello) and dinner at Dopolavoro (on the La Foce estate). The Wednesday morning cooking classes with Anna & Sabriba were outstanding. The Abbey at Sant'Altimo was also one of our favorite day trips. Happy travels, Laurette
