Biking along the Cannon River. One of the best bike trails in Minnesota. The stretch between Welch and Cannon Falls is more interesting than between Welch and Red Wing. $7 day pass to ride the trail… Full review by TravelingSoccerLoon

We rode this trail from Hwy 61 (just west of Red Wing) to the river access on Sunset Trail (just east of Cannon Falls) as one leg of a day of kayaking down the river and biking back up it. The trail … Full review by Tim W

One of my favorite trails. This is a fully paved mostly flat trail from Cannon Falls to Red Wing. There is a small fee for riding/skating, but it is worth it and it helps to maintain this beautiful… Full review by workhardplayhard27

This is my first encounter with a pet ban on a bike trail. Does anyone know the reason for this?

Last time we were there 3 years ago in July, this ban didn't exist, or at least no one knew about it and no one even talked to us about it. And we stopped at a few checkpoints. Now they have postings all over their website about 'no dogs', clearly some dumb board member got upset. It's ridiculous that they allow kids in trailers, but not dogs. Well they just screwed their towns and local businesses out of a few hundred dollars. Too bad I was looking forward to the stops at the patio restaurants, breweries and shops along the way and to stopping at that local wine shop down there that I liked so much last time. Guess we'll be headed somewhere else today.

Q:
My husband and I are interested in traveling the entire distance but only one way starting at Cannon Falls. Are shuttle services available through the week? We would probably be doing this on a Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning in early October weather permitting.
A:
There is no shuttle service typically during the week. If you take 2 cars, you can park one at the end and load the bikes up once you are done. That would likely be the easiest.
Q:
We would like to do 1/2 of the trial and then ride back the same part of the trial. Which part should we absolutely not miss?
A:
Tough call. The whole stretch is beautiful; I said the half closest to Red Wing, but my wife thought more wild flowers on Cannon Falls side. You can't lose either way!
Q:

The entire Cannon Valley Trail is open for hiking, but if you want to get off the beaten path there are a few different options. •#TAB# Mile 3.8 (Anderson Memorial Rest Area), there is a ½ mile mowed grass trail. The rest of the suggestions listed below do not have maintained trails, but you are more than welcome to hike around. •#TAB# Mile 4.5 is the Tangential Wildlife Management Area. •#TAB#Mile 6 is the River Terrace Prairie Scientific and Natural Area. •#TAB#At Miles 12-13 and Mile 15 is the Cannon River Turtle Preserve Scientific and Natural Area. •#TAB#At Mile 17.5 is the Silvernale Archaeology Preserve. Happy Hiking!

How long does it take to complete this trail, all 38 miles? leisurely pace.
