The boaters parking areas do not like bicyclists, runners, dog walkers or hikers. I parked in a boat lot my vehicle was vandalized. I also have seen MANY bicyclists' way over the speed limit of 15mp… Full review by Nec Big Dog O

We walked parts of both sides of the trail - south side located on the city side and the north side located on the PNC Park side. It’s flat and some areas have homeless tents, but it wasn’t an issue.… Full review by Kathrine

Hi, We are coming to Pittsburgh for a family vacation and this includes grandparents and grand children ages 2-17. Would the Heritage Trail be suitable for such a range in ages? And where should we park to begin tour?

I think so. If you asking about the trail between PNC Park and the Casino, along the river, it's wide open with great views and is pretty flat. You may have to be concerned about a youngster near the river - I don't remember a guard rail - but there is plenty of room away from the river. Also there are quite a few steps to get down to the river from the upper sidewalk/road level - that could be a problem for grandparents. The entrance we took was out beyond the out field of the baseball stadium o 6th St. We parked at the Springhill Suites, on the other side of the baseball stadium about a block and 1/2 away. We were staying there and it cost $21/day if I remember correctly. If there is no baseball game going on you may have inexpensive (and closer) choices on the street. Also weekends my be less crowded. We needed a place to park for a couple of days. It's a really nice walk across the 6th St bridge to/from downtown Pittsburgh too - but I don't know how lively the grandparents are.
Hi all! I am planning on coming down this weekend for a bit of biking along the Heritage Trail. I'm wondering where is the best/safest place to park the car for the day? Thanks!
