verbs - The past participle of "split": "split" or "splitted ...
The past tense, and past participle of "split" is "split". I don't think that "splitted" is grammatical, though I dare say it gets used.

Where does the expression “spill the tea” come from?
As a (Scot)Brit I have never heard of 'spilling the tea' in that context. 'Spilt milk' is used of an action that cannot be reversed, usually one that is culpable. 'Spill the beans' is to disclose something confidential or just pass on information which is not (yet) known generally.

From "Knocked up" to mean "woken up", it appears that the meanings split somewhere between the 1920s and the 1940s. Does anyone know the history of how the meanings split and exactly why and how it happened?

"to further assist [you]" -- Split infinitive or fixed VP?
I often split my infinitives (native speaker), but I'd be more inclined to say, "I'd be happy to assist you further" here. To your question of why, I don't have a good answer. I often find not splitting the infinitive sounds too contrived and formal. It's similar to the distinction between who and whom for me.
