Second the query -- I model in O scale/gauge, and would be interested if this system can be scaled up. Also, are the magnets powerful enough to draw O scale vehicles along the roadway? That's a limitation that has kept me from experimenting with the Magnorail system.
Show your die-cast vehicles with pride Designed for displaying 1/43 and 1/48 scale vehicles, the octagonal skyscraper is seven levels tall (24 inches) and has a striking see-through exterior. The interior structure reveals an intricate network of gray girders supporting the auto display shelves.
Passengers From what I have seen, most O scale figures will not fit into O scale passenger cars, at least not without major surgery. The best figures to use are actually S scale. Atlas O – Atlas has figures made from MTH tooling. Atlas PN 3009951 is the same as MTH PN 30-11067. Atlas PN 3009952 is the same as MTH PN 30-11068.
As a winter project (waiting for that snow!!), the wife and I are going to fill in the roadway crossings, so those O scale vehicles don't loose their undercarriage and kill the occupants while the car wheels drop down between the outside and center rails attempting to get across. :D I will be...
Your comment that O scale cars look large got to me. I have some tinplate villas, 3 1/2 x4 and 4x5. O scale cars are large next to then. A 1:48 early 50's pickup measures 4 1/2 lg. A bit large. Same with the lionel dinner. Are the buildings undersize or is it just me
Just posted this on the streets thread but, in case you missed it, this is a company offering a track and O scale vehicles that looks like a step up from streets. You might want to check it out.
Any plan to create an O scale version, currently or in the future? ISTM the chain and power driver system should be fine as is, and all you'd really need to do is slightly modify the roadway pieces to introduce a wider space in the middle, to separate the lanes by an additional inch or so.
It appears that the Atlas Industrial Rail, K-Line O-27, Lionel Traditional, and MTH Rugged Rails product lines are equal in size and would be classified as being O-27 gauge. As the pictures show, the MTH Railking Line falls between O scale and O-27 gauge.
I know it’s backwards to do the roads now I should’ve done the first but this train layout has evolved over the years transitioning from all O scale to primarily HO. So how wide do you do your HO roads? And where do you get them and what 1-87 vehicles are you all using? I haven’t decided exactly how I’m going to build the roads.
